For the tweens (read with my 8 & almost 11 yr old boys): Truce: The Day the Soldiers Stopped Fighting by Jim Murphy. I'm not a history buff and almost suggested we stopped reading this book after the first few pages, but I'm so glad we continued. It got me interested in history!
